I was recently speaking with an attorney I work with and she told me this amazing story that was too good not to share!
All the women out there will understand this - The attorney had one pair of high heel shoes that were comfortable. Being a lawyer requires one to wear high heel shoes for 12 hour work days. Although she had searched high and low, she could never find another pair of heels that did not kill her feet. A few weeks ago she decided to send them into the shoe repair shop to get the heels replaced. She went back to pick up the shoes and the repair man had some devastating news...his shop had been broken into and some of the shoes had been stolen. Hers were among the few pairs taken. The repair man stated he would give her money so she could replace the shoes - but she was grief stricken! She KNEW she would never find another pair that were as comfortable as her old favorite pair.
This bad news really ruined her day. She could think of nothing but the lost shoes. Several days later, still upset about this shoe circumstance, she was driving down highway 121 and saw something on the side of the highway. It was a shoe! She just knew it was her shoe and got off the highway to turn around and go back for another look. She pulled her car over and ran up to the shoe. Sure enough it was her shoe. She recognized the scuffs and heels on it. She was overjoyed but quickly realized that one shoe is one shoe short of a pair.
She continued driving with her eyes peeled watching the road just in case the other shoe might be somewhere close. A little ways up the road something caught her eye...it was another shoe. She quickly pulled over and with her hopes high - it was the other shoe!!
What are the chances that she would be driving across town from where she lived and find both of her shoes lying in the highway a mile apart!? I told her she needs to start playing the lottery...and avoiding thunderstorms
