We're Baaaaaaa-aaaaack!

The Cabrero's are finally back to the blogging world - and boy do we have a lot to catch up on! I am going to be doing a little "back-blogging" for a while, and journal about all the of the things happening since the end of April. Starting with our move! There will be pictures, videos, fun stories and sweet memories coming...so get ready! We hope to be blogging regularly once we get things settled a bit here in the house (yes, pictures of the house will be posted!)
Our plan is to get as much settled as we can this weekend so we can resume "life as usual."
Thanks for your patience. We love you all!

Missing You

Dear Blog Readers,
I miss you! It has been a long time since my last blog so let me offer an apology - as well as an explanation. I'm sorry to leave you wondering what has happened to us. As you know, we are in the process of moving cross country. We have bought a house, and while we wait for closing, we don't have much internet access. Thus, the infrequent moments when I do have access are taken up with really exciting things (like paying bills and deleting junk email. Yippee).
Bear with us as we make this transition. And look forward to all of the wonderful stories and pictures I will share once I get a chance to re-cap our lives over the last month.
Love to you all,
The Cabreros

Twins?

Any of you who are Twilight fans will know Robert Pattinson. One of the things he is famous for is his hair. I went to get Mason after he woke up from his nap and this was what his hair looked like! It is harder to see in a picture than it was in person - but it looked like someone had styled it. Somehow during his nap my sweet baby Mason morphed into Robert Pattionson. They do kinda look alike... ha ha!

Mason's First Haircut!!

Mason went in for his first official haircut yesterday! I had been trimming it at home until it got too long for me to trim. We made an appointment with my friend, Laura, who does my hair! She is an old friend of Mike's and has actually known him longer than I have! They go way back.
Mason did great! I brought along some snacks and a magazine for him to rip into (which he never gets to do at home). I also let him play with my cell phone (which he never gets to do at home, either!). He sat very still for Laura and didn't cry once. Way to go, Mason!!

Here he is playing with the phone and ripping his magazine

His "sort-of" smile for the lady taking the picture

Here is an "after" pic. Mason and his new 'do!

And I thought I would throw this one in because it is just so cute!! Here he is riding in the back of the dump truck we got him for his first birthday.

Easter and One Last Trip to the Zoo

This last weekend we decided to take one last trip to the zoo. It is finally starting to feel like we are moving - and I am getting a little emotional! There have been many ups and downs while living in California, but we have made friends to last a lifetime, and memories to last forever.
Saturday we headed out to the zoo - we were very excited because Mason is finally to an age where he is interested in animals. He LOVED it! We looked at the koalas, giraffes, gorillas, meerkats, tigers, and the list goes on! I think his favorite was the meerkats. They were very active and close.
We had a great Easter Egg Hunt later that day at some friends' house. They have a beautiful backyard and home. They gave each child a different kind of Easter egg to hunt. Then the parent's hid their own child's eggs. That way everyone gets the same amount! Mason's was jellybean shaped. I thought that was so perfect since we called him our little jellybean before he was born! Mason got a basket full of eggs, and the hosts even made Easter baskets for Mason, Mike and me! They are such sweet, generous people. Mason got lots of candy and came home with $15 in cash. Way to go bud!

Here are his new jammies. We got him some Cowboy jam jams since we are heading back to cowboy country! The feet of the pajamas are cowboy boots. So cute!

Mike and Mason check out the giraffes.

Sleepy Rhinos

Heading Home! Mason was having a bottle in his stroller and his new frog Filmore was along for the ride! (by the way, the name was on the tag...we didn't come up with it ourselves. haha).

EASTER EGG HUNT! GO GETTUM MASON!

Making silly faces in the grass. He kept everyone at the Egg Hunt laughing because he is really into making ridiculous silly faces. That's my boy!

Here is a video of the Egg Hunt. You can hear my friend Leah in the background yelling at her husband...priceless.

30 Years, 11 Months and a Birthday Party!

Mike turned 30 the same day Mason turned 11 months! We had a fun day of celebrating. I had gotten Mike some custom pictures made from the photography session we did with our friend Launey. They aren't finished just yet - but we know they will look amazing!
Mike decided he wanted me to cook his birthday dinner instead of going out to eat. He requested Dijon Chicken, baked sweet potatoes and asparagus. He also wanted some Cowboy Cookies instead of a birthday cake. Mason and I spent all day in the kitchen getting daddy's cookies and birthday dinner baked. It was super yummy!
Mason is continuing to grow into a sweet little boy. He likes to eat Cheerios, bread, and tortillas. We haven't given him anything with real substance yet because he still doesn't have the whole chewing food thing down. He loves to drink from our water bottles and glasses - and tries to mooch food off of our plates by making funny silly faces. He is such a joy!
We celebrated his first birthday early, since we will be in the throes of moving when his real one rolls around! There were around 35 friends in attendance - and we had a blast! My friend Leah helped me make Mason's cake. His party was a jungle safari theme, so we made a lion cake to match the lion on his invitations. Leah is about 29 weeks pregnant - she was such a trooper!! Her little girl Aubrey helped keep Mason entertained while we slaved over the cake. We took lots of video and pictures - so you will have to come look at the scrapbook if you want to see all of them!
We are now gearing up for the big move in less than 30 days. We are trying to find possible houses to rent, and figure out just how the heck we are supposed to move 2 adults, a baby and a 101 pound American Bulldog cross-country without losing our minds. Miracles. We are praying for Miracles. Ha ha!
Here are some pics from Mike's b-day and Mason's. Enjoy!

For the Grandparents

Well, so sorry for the long blogging delay. I feel like I have been a little scatterbrained lately, and therefore it has taken me twice as long to do simple tasks as it normally would. Somehow, blogging has gotten pushed down the list. I have also tried to upload a few videos of Mason, but haven't been able to get them to post for some reason. I am trying again - so we will see how it goes!
Mason is growing fast, and it seems like he gets taller every day. Overnight he has gone from baby to boy! AND, that includes his attitude. He wants to make decisions for himself now, and when we tell him no, well, let's just say it doesn't float his boat. He has his mama's personality - so I know we are in for a long road! Ha ha.
We are busy planning his first birthday party, and planning for our move. We are still waiting to hear the word on where we will be moving - but as of now, we will be saying goodbye to friends here the last week of April. We are looking forward to celebrating our first Easter with our little guy! He hasn't started walking on his own, but he loves to walk and push his hippo cart, as well as the laundry basket. He really goes fast sometimes, so I know when he does take off things will never be the same!
Here are a few pictures of Mason. As you can see, he is already expected to help with household chores and cleanup. Oh wait, I must be dreaming. He just pretends he's cleaning.

Dishes

I don't know if the videos will show up or not - but I'm giving it the old College try. One is of him doing a puzzle, the other is him pushing the laundry basket.
